Mike spotted this older fellow paying his bill in the Bridgeman's restaurant on Hennepin and followed him out onto the street to take a few memorable snapshots. He cheerfully wears a pair of modish bug-eye sunglasses and a blue polka-dot hat while gripping a matching plastic handbag. Some of the fashions on display in these photos look dated from today’s perspective, but this man’s outfit is timeless: the costume of the urban eccentric has remained basically unchanged. You could see this guy on Nicollet Mall today. Whoever he is, he remains one of the great, unsung Minneapolis eccentrics.
